Discover Your Personal Connection to History

Tours enriched through consultations
with a certified geneaologist

Journey back in time and meet your ancestors!

If you’d like some assistance finding your ancestry while traveling in Europe, Normandy American Heroes can also help with that. We offer personalized genealogical research assistance with a member of our team who is a Certified Genealogist.

We all seem to have family legend or two. Many of us have heard tales from our older family members, about where we came from. It could be a story passed down about French ancestors and their voyage across the ocean in a steamship, arriving at Ellis Island or one of many other U.S. or Canadian ports. Maybe one of your British Isles ancestors came over for a new start or to start a family where there was much more opportunity. Or, an ancestor from Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) came to escape conscription from the Kaiser, or the stress of a hard life toiling on the land. Some people find that they are actually related to royalty, or to a serf on the baron’s land. Doesn't that make you curious?

Legends can be made reality with some research. It does take time and patience but the reward can be awesome and unexpected! It all comes down to finding records of the lives of your ancestors. What did they leave behind? A census record, a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, a death certificate, an obituary, a ships passenger list, a passport, a land record, a probate, or even a newspaper article can include the person you want to know about in the story. These types of records have a wealth of information about your ancestors and their relationships, even social life and their behaviour.

Why Tour With Rudy?

Rudy Passera is the founder of Normandy American Heroes, and serves as the guide for private group tours. To Rudy, historical tours are his business—but they mean much more than that. He intends for Normandy American Heroes tours to be a bridge between Europe, the U.S. and its allies, providing lessons that we all must learn from.

Rudy is the the only Interpretive Guide who has worked both for the Normandy American Cemetery/La Pointe du Hoc and the Utah Beach Museum. He has also served three times as the Master of Ceremonies for the International Commemorations at Utah Beach.

There is no one better than Rudy to have by your side as you experience the true meaning of courage, competence and devotion to duty as demonstrated by the heroes of WWII.

"What an amazing 2 weeks we had with Rudy Passera of Normandy American Heroes on our Cross Channel Attack Heritage Tour in April 2018 as we followed the footsteps of my father-in-law Robert A. Miller Jr. from his training in southern England for D-Day to his D-Day landing on Utah Beach to his time in Cherbourg through to the liberation of Paris in August 1944! Rudy has limitless knowledge not only of all related to WW 2 but also of European heritage. He has an amazing passion to keep alive the memory and stories of those Americans who sacrificed so much to come to the foreign battlefields of Europe to defeat the Nazi tyranny and restore freedom and liberty to all. We were inspired, touched, and challenged at places we did not just "see" but were immersed into fully experience. The pièce de résistance was the surprise awarding of honorary citizenship to Utah Beach and St.-Marie-du-Mont to my father-in-law at Brecourt Manor. Priceless!"
