Why Tour With Rudy?

Rudy Passera is the founder of Normandy American Heroes, and serves as the guide for private group tours. To Rudy, historical tours are his business—but they mean much more than that. He intends for Normandy American Heroes tours to be a bridge between Europe, the U.S. and its allies, providing lessons that we all must learn from.

Rudy is the the only Interpretive Guide who has worked both for the Normandy American Cemetery/La Pointe du Hoc and the Utah Beach Museum. He has also served three times as the Master of Ceremonies for the International Commemorations at Utah Beach.

There is no one better than Rudy to have by your side as you experience the true meaning of courage, competence and devotion to duty as demonstrated by the heroes of WWII.

“There is simply no one better than Rudy! He is the best! Quick summary for folks like me: Rudy Passera has a deep and passionate knowledge and understanding of all things WWII, plus he is a local and native speaker, therefore has a local/French knowledge as well! -Rudy is well-connected, supporting/partnering/etc with the museums, locals, owners, restaurants, lodgings, etc. This makes him an invaluable resource and more importantly, gave us a truly unique experience into WWII and the local countryside. -Rudy has the experience and know-how to ensure we all were picked up and dropped off at our various places. He coordinated the drivers, guides, locals, meals, ceremonies, and our arrival/departures as an expert logistician. -Rudy at the same time, was flexible. Someone has a unique diet? No problem. Someone was exhausted and needed to turn in early? No problem. Someone's uncle fought here? Let's go see it and learn about. Raining when we're supposed to be on the beaches? We will do museum instead and beach later. He cares about you and what you want/need to enjoy the trip. -I never had to "worry" about anything. Plan my flight in and out of the country, and Rudy did the rest. He hired an amazing team of drivers in luxury Merecedes vans that not only drove us, but acted as concierge too who would get us cokes, snacks, etc. This was truly an all-inclusive tour. Rudy maxed the tour to keep it small, so we were intimate, had an opportunity to get to know one another, and we could go places and do things larger groups could not. Rudy is fast. I mean, he walks fast, so you need to keep up! No problem for my brother and I, and most of the convoy, but you need to remember this is a walking tour, at least this WWII one specifically. It's not handicap friendly, it's not walking problems friendly; it's thousands of steps a day. Just know what kind of tour you are booking, and you won't be disappointed. Use the bathrooms whenever you find one! Apparently they don't have them everywhere like in the US, and the places that do have them, you'll be in the middle of a ceremony and unable to leave haha! Summary: I found Rudy via one of his blogs on St. Mere Eglise, and glad I did! I was recently booked with Band of Brothers and a Smithsonian and glad I switched. Rudy had the small intimate group of us pull up to various places with our drivers in Mercedes vans and we would get out, do learn everything (because Rudy knew everyone at the museum, or the farmers, etc.) and get back in before the Band of Brother's bus was done unloading the 60 people! And they have set tours, very regimented, but if it was raining, Rudy swapped the beach with the museum, and we did the beach later when it cleared. Or if someone was related to so-and-so, we'd go visit their marker or talk about that unit...there was just a lot more personalization (eating dinners in friends homes!) and tailoring, and we got to KNOW the people in our group, now friends for life! I'll never go to France again without a tour from Rudy. You won't regret it!"
